Dear Delegates,

I’m Dustin Simon, and I’m a junior at Deerfield High School. In my second year on the DHS MUN team and my second year at JAMUN, I am very excited to see where this year takes me. Outside of MUN, I play the violin and compete on the tennis team. I’m also involved in various STEM-focused clubs, such as Mathletes and Robotics.

In this committee, we’ll be exploring some of the most urgent global issues under the World Health Organization (WHO). As the leading international body for public health, the WHO plays a vital role in coordinating efforts between countries, guiding health policy, and responding to global health emergencies. Its work impacts millions of lives, from setting vaccination standards to improving healthcare access in underserved regions. This committee offers a unique opportunity to engage with the challenges and responsibilities the WHO faces daily. By participating, you’ll not only deepen your understanding of global health but also practice the diplomacy and collaboration needed to make a meaningful impact on the world stage.

You should aim to think creatively, write with purpose, collaborate closely with your peers, and fully engage in debate. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or push beyond your comfort zone—this is a great chance to grow as a delegate, sharpen your speaking and writing skills, and gain confidence in a supportive environment.

I’m looking forward to seeing your ideas and diplomacy in action! If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected] or to either of my co-chairs.

Sincerely,

Dustin Simon
