Dear Delegates,
Welcome to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) at JAMUN! My name is Myra Amin, and I am honored to be chairing this committee. I am currently a junior at Deerfield High School, and this is my first year participating in Model United Nations. Outside of MUN, I run track and field in the spring and take part in various philanthropy clubs throughout the school year. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, exploring new restaurants, shopping, and listening to music.
The WMO plays a critical role in international efforts to understand and respond to global meteorological and climatic challenges. From addressing the increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters to tackling the far-reaching impacts of climate change on food security, our committee will examine some of the most pressing environmental issues facing the world today. These challenges require innovative solutions, international cooperation, and science-based policymaking–elements that will be at the heart of our discussions. Throughout this conference, I look forward to witnessing thoughtful debate, diplomatic collaboration, and creative solutions. Model UN is an incredible opportunity to refine public speaking skills, engage in global problem-solving, and connect with peers who share an interest in international affairs. I encourage you all to research thoroughly, think critically, and, most importantly, enjoy the experience!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].
Best of luck, and I look forward to seeing you in committee!
Sincerely,
Myra Amin
